Rosarito Beach,
Puerto Nuevo and
Ensenada
are the principal cities on the Pacific coast of Northern Baja. They share
the same Mediterranean climate as San Diego.
Rosarito Beach is twenty five minutes south of the San Ysidro border and offers a
vibrant tourist-town atmosphere with nightlife, condo towers and restaurants
along with broad, sandy beaches, street vendors, shopping and the
hustle-bustle that represents a funky blend of rapid growth and well-worn
infrastructure.
Puerto Nuevo - the emerging hotspot on Baja's Gold Coast! Just
10 minutes south of the hustle and bustle of Rosarito you will find the
lobster village of Puerto Nuevo. Here the coast forms a natural bay,
creating delightful views both North and South. Here you find good
restaurants, shops and a great mix of fun and peace and quiet. A growing
community of artists and artisans are bringing their businesses and studios
to this area giving it a character of its own.
Puerto Nuevo’s growth is happening at a slower more relaxed pace.

Ensenada – a small city with a laid back feel
Ensenada is a small city of 350,000 residents an hour South of the San Ysidro border and offers amenities that make the drive worth it for many people. Ensenada is tucked into the beautiful Todos Santos (Bay of Saints) where cruise ships visit with regularity. There are medical facilities, shopping centers (even a Costco and Home Depot) great restaurants, an undiscovered and fantastic wine country and unspoiled, well - protected natural beauty. The topography of the area offers interesting and sometimes dramatic elevation changes with great ocean views and rocky beaches.
San Felipe is on the Sea of Cortez side of the Baja peninsula about 4.5 hours from San Diego. The area is famous for having many distinct climate zones... but is often described as the desert with a beach. Air conditioning is critical from Late May through late September no matter how much you enjoy the desert heat. San Felipe is throwing off its sleepy fishing-village atmosphere and is attracting many people due to its lower price-point and remote nature.
